Culture has always played a big role in my life

Culture, Oppression and Women

Growing up cartoons have always played a big role in my life. My parents thought it was a 'phase' and that I would eventually grow out of it, but here I am, roughly at a quarter of a century and still thriving on the beauty of animation. As an Indian, I've realised that young girls are oppressed at a young age by society. The way we look, the way we dress, the way we speak and to whom we speak to is monitored by those all around us, to judge our families or where we come from. As I grew older I realised just how rich and diverse our culture really is, and how it was supressed as well. This series brings together the raw sexuality of being a woman as well as the coming-out of what our culture has always been; rich, royal and full of powerful women figures.
